ASPIRE Flight Demonstrations
As part of establishing a baseline for air traffic management performance and carbon emissions, the initial ASPIRE partners are undertaking a series of 3 flights to demonstrate and measure gate to gate emissions and fuel savings using existing efficiency procedures.
Each of the flights will be managed by one of the partners and will look at utilising different air traffic management procedures to reduce fuel burn and the impact on the environment.
Working closely with airline partners, Air New Zealand, Qantas, United Airlines, Japan Airlines and Singapore Airlines, ASPIRE will measure the efficiency of every aspect of the flight from gate to gate.
The coordinating partner will ensure that possible constraints are removed by cleansing airspace of addition traffic to allow for an optimal flight conditions with the aim of creating the 'Perfect Flight'.
The data gathered from each Perfect Flight will then be used as a benchmark for creating the most efficient and environmentally sound flights in the Asia and South Pacific region.
